Thank you for your wintertime patience!
This is your friendly reminder that we are just about to kick off another amazing year at the garden! Our first workday is scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, April 2 from 9-2. The combo to the locks will be changed at the end of the work day, so it’s in your best interest to come and spend some time at the garden, get to see some old friends and make some new ones!
Norma has been kind enough to make a short list of things that need to be tended on Saturday. There are likely more things to be addressed, but this is a good start. Be sure to wear sturdy shoes, socks, probably long pants and sleeves; bring gloves, goggles, power tools, water, doughnuts (what?) and a helpful attitude. We’ve got a lot of work to do!
We need to:
- replace watering can support posts and concrete base for center and rear.
- rodent control excavation at bee platform add more wire screening
- remove short rotten tree stumps at shade structure
- build and install plot frames
- weed under sculptures and around outside fence
- weed pathways
- spread chips starting at Union fence
Plots due for repairs or replacement are: 37, temple Beth el, 51, 59, 61,64, 73, 97, 98, 106.
If you do not want to have Norma and her crew repair your plot (i.e. you want to repair it yourself), and your plot is listed above, please either mark your plot ahead of time, or drop me an email right away.
And lastly, this is New England. You know how our weather is unpredictable. We are planning to have the work day, but if for some reason the weather does not cooperate, I will do my best to leave an email, a Facebook message on the Fox Point Community Garden page, and a note on the website, so please try to check one of those places before heading out on Saturday morning.
Thanks so much for being a continued or emerging presence in our little community.
